Nexus Hires New MLA Executive Administrator

Paul Smith has replaced former Mille Lacs Academy Executive Administrator Kathe Dellacecca. No further details are available at this time.

  Update

Onamia city clerk Kathleen McCullum has finally indicated that the reason that the rezoning meeting was cancelled is because "everything's on hold" until Nexus signs a written agreement to purchase the land.

Rezoning Meeting Canceled

According to Kathleen McCullum, Onamia City Clerk, the Onamia City Council Special Meeting slated for July 5, 2007 to rezone the Grosslein property has been canceled. No further information is available at this time.

Update: It appears that the property was zoned R2 somehow - without a city council meeting or a public hearing. We'll keep you updated on this!

When asked why the rezoning meeting was canceled, Onamia city councilman Bill Hill Jr. said that he did not know why. When asked the same question, city clerk Kathleen McCullum said point blank, "I don't know."

Annexation passes!

In spite of outraged citizens' protests, Larry Milton and the Onamia City Council unanimously passed the annexation of the Grosslein/Bye property.

Special Meeting

&

Annexation Public Hearing

Wednesday June 13, 2007

Onamia City Hall

Main Street, Onamia, MN

5:00 p.m.

At first, Mayor Larry Milton made it clear that no public hearings would be necessary regarding the sex offender facility because everything was settled sixteen years ago - and that was satisfactory to him. When people (and the law) insisted on having all due public hearings, Milton was forced to comply, although his mind was already made up and the hearings were nothing more than a mere formality.
