Mille Lacs Messenger Screws up AGAIN!
Mille Lacs News Staff Writer
Well, the Mille Lacs Messenger is back to its old tricks.
Last week it reported that Onamia school superintendent John Varner would
deny Nexus' tax abatement proposal and would not support academy
privatization.
This week the local paper reported that Nexus had not applied
for tax abatement with the school. The article made it sound like Nexus
never considered trying to dodge its taxes. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Nexus has
tried time and time again to get property tax exemption in Mower, Crow Wing,
and Mille Lacs Counties. Having been denied tax exemption from the county
assessors as well as the Minnesota Department of Revenue, Nexus then turned
to tax abatement, which virtually will give Nexus the privilege of operating
its business in our community without the nuisance of having to pay taxes
like the rest of us... This is a terrible selfish corporation which has done
nothing to pay its own way in our community. It hasn't given us anything
back. In fact, we have ended up having to support Nexus!
The Mille Lacs Messenger should be ashamed. People trust the
local media to provide good, accurate information. Kevin Anderson's personal
agenda should be kept out of the newspaper business. The people of this
county are sick and tired of all the bamboozlement taking place.
JUST TELL THE TRUTH!
